Unveiling Windows Phone 8

Since we began our partnership with Microsoft and delivered the first Windows-based smartphone in 2002 there have been many advancements in the mobile industry.  Now, ten years later, we join our partner in celebrating the announcement of Windows Phone 8.

Here at HTC, we know your smartphone is a unique device that matches your personality; in fact it’s really an extension of you.  Which is why the announcement of Windows Phone 8 is so important.   It provides a greater selection of phones and features, ultimately making it easier for you to find the right phone for your needs.

We’ve always worked closely with Microsoft to identify the unique ways HTC can deliver the best overall Windows Phone experience.  To better understand what’s new in Windows Phone 8 and what it means for you, we sat down with Joe Belfiore, Vice President of Windows Phone at Microsoft to discuss today’s announcement.

With all the excitement about the new features in Windows Phone 8 it’s easy to start thinking about what new devices may be coming.  We’ll certainly have more details on that later this year.  In the meantime, let us know what you think; what are you most excited about with Windows Phone 8?

windows phone 8 looks is very awesome! htc should accompany this with very awesome devices. Wp8 + S4 krait processor + amoled display + 2200 mah battery + Beats audio = HTC AWESOMENESS!

Amoled is not the best chice for an awesome phone. An IPS matrix will fit best. Hope that WP8 will not suck out the battery charge as fast as the 7

      • azri h.a.r.

i prefer amoled because of the dark theme nature of windows phone. the ultimate battery saver. ips matrix still a lcd so no matter what colour it display, it will always use up battery

Anyway a display is always a matter of preference. You like the contrast I like to see actual colors. Possibly you like gaming on your device whereas I use mine usually for reading (not books) and surfing. Anyway both types will be used.

Win mobile 8 is a joke, just like Win 8 is.
They’re just trying to coerce individuals here, that’s all.

You are a joke me friend. :P

    • BookLover15

I’m game! I’d also take a Titan III. I don’t care if they leave the Titan II features intact with it. Just give me WP8 and I’ll be happy. :D

when i can get updates of Tango for my HTC RADAR?  nd when i can get updates of wp7.8 for my HTC RADAR?

  • http://www.facebook.com/rdjakhangirov Rustam Djakhangirov

It’s bad that previous models will not have a chance for upgrade. Hope WP7.8 will have the maximum of WP8

  • tvonthebrain

blah blah blah blah blah. Skip it
    Win Mobile is a joke

Are you still living in the year 2005?

    • BookLover15

It’s not Windows MOBILE. It’s Windows PHONE.

And it’s the year 2012 now. Try to keep up. Laying off the TV might help.

Cant wait guys! The One X is a pretty awesome piece of hardware. A WP8 version of it would kick some butt! :D

Once again consumers were dissapointed , the loyal ones were punished by not getting upgrade …,

  • frostythesnowman

I love the look and feel of the HTC One S, a revision if it with a 720p screen and WP8 would be killer!

    • frostythesnowman

Oh, and support for the 850Mhz band, that is he major band used for HSDPA+ up here in Canada.

“Microsoft is allowing phone owners to totally customize their phone in ways not possible with iOS and Android.

I beleive Windows Phone 8 will be the best mobile OS out there. I’m excited to see the new Win 8 phones. They may just be the new standard to compare against.

I love my HTC Surround and really want Windows Phone 8. I hope that the new phone Microsoft is requiring me to buy will be viable for more than one two upgrade cycles. That said, a 5-5.5 inch display with killer graphics will make the purchase more palatable.

      Dear Thomas,

      You said it rightly….

Wow, you wrote it so beautifully, your second paragraph is perfect and gave me chills. The expression of freedom of choice was very defined and presented in your words!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/TTZLACC4L6XL74J5VFKSCB5MZM unnikrishnan

    Dear Joe,

You should also have a Windows flagship smartphone like One X with Android,

  • rouvomania

Why people are choosing to buy HTC mobile phones?what makes HTC different from the other?because as we know Nokia has also windows but some people prefer HTC phones, why?

    • Adam Filla

Hi about android it’s the same. I want android phone and i dont know why, but i want HTC . I bought it and i love it.

    • The Calm Critic

As a Samsung user I can tell you with a straight face that when it comes to droids HTC aren’t a bad choice at all.

HTC gets the sources out faster to devs at every Android version update and so far supports updates’ rollout as best as hw reqs would allow across all of their droids possible.

Only things to improve on now are; the tendency to overprice RRPs mid-high end models w/ weak batt packs and for the love of all holiness make Sense’s hs AUTO ROTATE! Buy out Nova or Go if you ppl can’t handle it.

  • taysider

I will not be buying a Windows phone as you do not have the same freedom as you do with Android. Waiting to see if this One XXL (Samsung note) like will make a show. If the rumours are true

  • The Calm Critic

Just bring me a decently specced, S4 Krait w/ newer Adreno GPU inside on a phablet 5.3″ sized Note killer INTERNATIONALLY (please…no more of this S3 1.7Ghz One S fiasco. Sort it out w/ TSMC pronto. You got paying people pissed off). Consider it business done. Watch how your WP8 products fly.

How about growing a pair too to bring us an LTE enabled W8 Pro Flyers? Some quad S4/Cortex A15 gen RT ones too?

I think Windows is starting to get pretty interesting with the entry of 8. It’s not about fancy stuff, animations, collours and widgets, hence there’s a potential to save heaps of battery. Tired of charging my phone every day, and longing back to a time where it went a week between each charge. Also, cross-using Windows devices would be easier than Android/Computer mix… don’t really work smoothly. And common, Apple? pricy much?

    Windows Phone 8 + android 4.1 + 2Ghz Quadcore Snapdragon S4 processor + Beats Audio + 2500 Mah Battery + superamoled display + 64GB storage = BEST PHONE EVER

  • Bill365

Bill 365. I am looking forward to Widows 8 Phone because I want it to be totally compatible with my home desk top. I want it to have amazing display, massive internal memory as well as slot in data card and be able to run all my desktop software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Chrome, Free-view, i-players, Sky-go, iTunes and much more. I want it to be an extension of my home computer. I need pinch & zoom & apps to sort my life and the same customization that I enjoy with Win7 at home. I want it ti open files & stream faster than my Android HTC. Will it deliver? When will the frst HTC phones be available to buy?
