Gaming on Android has gained tremendous momentum in 2013, and now it’s not uncommon for developers to do simultaneous multi-platform releases of their newest games. The long wait for the release of a hot new game on Android is, for the most part, a thing of the past. There’s no better HTC phone for gaming than the HTC One max, with its 5.9 inch, 1080p Super LCD 3 display, dual-front facing speakers, and powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon S600 processor. Games are more immersive than ever, so here’s a selection of some of the games that really shine on the HTC One max and the reasons why.
Walking Dead: Assault
Newly updated in the Google Play store, Walking Dead: Assault is an action game featuring beautiful visuals created to look like the graphic novels that spawned the Walking Dead universe. The game is fast and fluid on the HTC One max thanks to the Snapdragon 600 processor, and plugging in your headphones taps into BoomSound for an extra-intense gaming experience. Don’t turn out the lights though, that might be a little too much to handle…
If you’re looking for something that doesn’t involve zombies, the popular game Westbound takes you on a journey to the wild frontier, where the gameplay (which is along the lines of Farmville) consists of building, finding, and exploring.
Plants vs. Zombies 2
OK, so we’re back to zombies again. Plants vs. Zombies is the Tetris of the smartphone generation; even if you’re not a gamer, you’ve likely heard of this game. I enjoyed playing the first one a great deal, and Popcap has just released Plants vs. Zombies 2 for Android. It’s a “freemium” game, meaning the game itself is free, but while playing the game you’ll have opportunities to purchase in-game levels and items.
The amusing comic-style graphics in Plants vs. Zombies 2 are even better than in the original, so the game looks great on the big screen of the HTC One max, and the sheer size of the screen makes the game more playable than on a smaller device (where things can get pretty small).
Minecraft: Pocket Edition
No game round-up would be complete without mentioning Minecraft, the amazingly popular game that’s taken the world by storm since its release in 2009. Minecraft: Pocket Edition is the Android version of the game, and while it’s purposefully low-res graphics are part of the charm, the 5.9 inch screen on the HTC One max gives you a large canvas for your world-building. It’s great for sharing your creations with friends as well!
Kingdom Rush: Frontiers
Kingdom Rush, and the newer Kingdom Rush: Frontiers, are part of the incredibly fun, yet often frustrating, “tower defense” genre. I’ve played Kingdom Rush on other devices, and it’s a favorite of mine, but playing it on the HTC One max takes it to a whole new level. With the huge screen you can zoom out to see more of the map, which helps you plan, but it’s still big enough to let you keep playing. Strategic advantage? Check.
No matter what kind of game you like to play, from action to puzzle, the HTC One max and its unique combination of a huge screen, superb sound, and top-tier performance will let you experience them in a whole new way. Game on!
