We know that the HTC One’s Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processor is blazing fast, so we put it to the test. HTC teamed up with the Qualcomm Snapdragon team to completely re-imagine the photo booth using the HTC One’s groundbreaking UltraPixel Camera. Not only are we able to quickly shoot vivid, true-to-life images with a wide range of colors, we can do it in “bullet time”! Remember the legendary scene from the movie The Matrix where Neo is dodging bullets? The camera does a 360-degree pan around him and time seems to stop.
To showcase the power of this technology, we used 130 HTC Ones powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor to bring Hollywood-style special effects to a 540-degree photo booth. Check out some of the mind-blowing results here:
How does it all work, you ask? We developed custom Android software that runs on each of the 130 HTC One smartphones, connecting them all through a central server. The server is able to control the focus, zoom, and capture and can cue a countdown clock. When the clock hits zero, the 130 smartphones function as one, each capturing an average 60 frames per second. The server then selects the best image from each HTC One based on time stamps and creates one final GIF file. Take a look at the result from the photo booth crew:
So far the photo booth has visited Los Angeles and New York City and it isn’t stopping there. We’re giving folks across the country a chance to step inside the Ultimate Smartphone Photo Booth, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.
